Butterfly is Gone

Butterfly died at six thirty this morning. She has taught me so many things, and now one more: life is fragile, well-being is fragile, but love is the strongest substance there is.

I loved you with all my heart Miss Butterfly, and I always will.

  3. Oh Rachel I am so very, very sorry. I know the depth of grief our souls suffer on the loss of our pets when we are as connected as you were with Miss Butterfly. She will be waiting for you when it is time for you to pass on and join her, welcoming you with wiggles and kisses. Love is never in vain.

      • Thank you. She was in a lot of pain and in truth; Daisy was kept going by her strong heart. Literally! It was the only thing still running right. I miss her, but the memory of her is still stark and she’s not likely to be forgotten anytime soon.
I think you feel the same for dear little Butterfly.
We’ve all lost pets, and it’s just like losing a member of the family because they ARE family. Just like family, though, we never forget them either πŸ™‚

      • I can’t imagine not having Butterfly floating around in my head. That would be unbearable.

  9. Dear Rachel,
I am so sorry for the loss of your little friend Butterfly. I know how painful this time is for you as I lost My Ollie back in October. I remember both my husband and coming out of the animal hospital crying so hard we could hardly see. And a woman seemed to come out of nowhere touching my arm saying it’s alright to cry now, but I hope you find comfort in the knowledge that you will see your furry little friend again someday…because love never dies.πŸ™

  34. Hey Rachel, you have been kind enough to follow my blog for a long time, and I have been following yours too for just as long. I love our little beings, we give them a good home and they give us so much in return… All I want to say is that I understand what you must be feeling right now. We don’t know each other but I believe that sharing them little slices of life, from one ocean end to the other, makes us better understanding folks. I also want to quote a phrase I have heard a few times, and as an ornithologist and environmentalist I will always stand by:” You haven’t touched your soul until you have connected with an animal”. Fairplay to you my friend, we need more people like you out there! πŸ˜‰ Keep well, Franck.
